Always Seeking

   6Therefore, let everyone who is godly pray to You (A)in a time when You may be found;
         Surely (B)in a flood of great waters they will not reach him.

Psalm 32:6 (NASB)

Reading this scripture I needed to stop and meditate on this verse for some time.  Isn't it during our darkest hour when we reach out to God the most?  Unfortunately we shouldn't see Him as a "pharmacy" God, only praying when we need something; but is this psalm telling us that God will not be found during our valleys or storms?  Nope, exactly the opposite!  Referencing the NLT Bible translation helped clarify the scripture.  Reading on to verse 7 also confirms that no one will be able to harm us while in His presence.

I believe the message here is clear, draw close to God; especially when you need to acknowledge your sins to Him (v5).  When you do this, God's forgiveness and grace is powerful beyond anything we can imagine.

Another important lesson or application here is about biblical interpretation.  Just reading this verse by itself can lead me into many wrong conclusions but when I put it in context, God reveals a love story.  I need to continue to be a student of Christ's mighty word; always seeking the truth no matter how much the evil one chatters lies around me.  God allows the mystery, never contradiction.

Father God, thank You for being a mysterious and loving God.  The Bible was never meant to be understood academically but a means to fall in love with You.  You want us to become more like You everyday by observing and applying Your characteristics to our own lives.  Lord, I pray for that transformation daily.  Help me to seek out where my transgressions are and offer them to You in repentance.  Thank You for never giving up on me.  In the precious name of Christ Jesus I pray, Amen!
